On the morning of June 4, 2020, the inauguration ceremony of Hainan University - Royal Agricultural University of Cambodia Chinese Language Center and the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the Chinese Language Center were held at the Royal Agricultural University of Cambodia. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia, Ao Kim Son, the Director of the Political Office of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, Wang Dexin, the President of the Royal Agricultural University of Cambodia, U Boon, the Vice President of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and the Vice President of the Cambodian Hainan Association, Han Qiangchou, and the Vice President of Hainan University, Hu Xinwen, attended the inauguration ceremony.
Ojinshan expressed his warm congratulations on the establishment of the Chinese Language Centre. He said, Hainan University - Royal Agricultural University of Cambodia Chinese Language Centre through the university teachers and students, officials and technical personnel to provide Chinese language teaching, agricultural technology training, for the two countries to develop personnel training, scientific research and cultural exchanges to build a platform. It is believed that the establishment of the Chinese Language Centre will greatly help to improve the standard of the Royal University of Agriculture.
The Royal Cambodian University of Agriculture has made significant achievements in international cooperation in recent years, particularly with Hainan University, said Boon Ng. The two sides have worked together to create a Chinese language centre and have already provided Chinese language training and education to the university's teachers and students through the Chinese language centre. Programmes for cooperation in agricultural and technological research, scholarships for the education of students and officials, and joint training for postgraduate students will also be launched soon. He is confident that the Chinese Language Centre will be a good platform for scientific and technological cooperation and cultural exchange between the two universities and between Cambodia and China, and that the Chinese Language Centre will greatly improve the standard of education offered by the Royal Agricultural University.
Hu Xinwen said that the establishment of the Chinese Language Centre is a good beginning of friendly cooperation between Hainan University and the Royal University of Agriculture in Cambodia. In the future, the Chinese Language Centre will be a good platform for the two universities to complement each other's strengths and carry out in-depth cooperation in science and education. In the future, the Centre will be dedicated to the integration of educational resources from Hainan Province and Cambodia, and will become a platform for friendly exchanges and cooperation in education and culture between Hainan Province and Cambodia, and will grow into an important base for research and training of elite talents in regional economy, culture and education in Hainan and Cambodia.
After the inauguration ceremony, the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the Chinese Language Centre was held. The meeting deliberated and approved the Chinese Language Centre's constitution, 2018 work plan and financial budget, and approved the candidates for the Chinese and Cambodian directors of the Chinese Language Centre. According to the consultation between the two universities, the Board of Directors of the Chinese Language Centre has two co-directors, who are Vice-President Hu Xinwen of Hainan University and President U Boon of Royal Agricultural University, and seven other directors, three of whom are from Hainan University and three from Royal Agricultural University, and another director is Mr Han Qiangchou, a Qiong Chinese Cambodian.
In the afternoon of the same day, the opening ceremony of the first phase of the Hainan University - Royal University of Agriculture in Cambodia Chinese Language Centre and the seminar on joint training and research cooperation of postgraduate students of the Royal University of Agriculture in Cambodia were also held. There were over 100 students and teachers registered for the first Chinese language course. Some young people from the community also came to register, but due to the limitation of teachers and teaching space, the first phase temporarily enrolled 40 students from the Royal University of Agriculture.
