厦门大学海洋化学博士(2018),厦门大学和南加州大学博士后(2018-2020)。围绕氮生物地球化学循环,应用前沿稳定同位素方法,研究河口-近岸-开阔大洋的氮转化动力学过程,探讨全球变化下海洋氮过程和功能生物的响应机制。主要成果包括:1)创新性提出同位素矩阵法,同步解析上层海洋多个氮过程速率;2)首度以同位素方法证实洋流水平输送的水团锋面是有机质再矿化的热点区域;3)揭示光与底物交互作用对光合/化能自养微生物竞争力的调控机制。主持国家自然科学基金、海南省重点研发计划、博士后面上、博士后国际交流计划人才派出项目等多项。在Water Research、Limnology and Oceanography、Geophysical Research Letters等国际期刊发表SCI论文近20篇。
Min Xu
Title/position: Associate Research Fellow, Doctoral Supervisor
Min Xu was a Ph.D. in Marine Chemistry from Xiamen University (2018) and a postdoctoral fellow at Xiamen University and the University of Southern California (2018-2020). Focusing on the nitrogen biogeochemical cycle, she applies cutting-edge stable isotope methods to study the nitrogen transformation dynamics from estuaries to nearshore and open oceans, exploring the response mechanisms of ocean nitrogen processes and functional organisms under global change. Her main achievements include: 1) innovatively proposing the isotope matrix method to simultaneously analyze the rates of multiple nitrogen processes in the upper ocean; 2) for the first time, using isotope methods to confirm that the front of water masses transported by ocean currents is a hotspot for organic matter remineralization; 3) revealing the regulation mechanism of the interaction between light and substrate on the competition of photoautotrophic / heterotrophic microorganisms. She has led multiple projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation, the Key R&D Program of Hainan Province, the Postdoctoral Fund, and the Postdoctoral International Exchange Program. She has published nearly 20 SCI papers in international journals such as Water Research, Limnology and Oceanography, and Geophysical Research Letters."

● 研究方向
在前期研究基础上继续聚焦不同水环境氮循环的动力过程,结合同位素示踪、流式分选、纳米离子质谱、生物信息等技术手段,拟开展的主要研究内容包括但不限于:
(1)氮循环动力学过程(尤其是光区与深海)速率与调控因子;
(2)氮循环过程执行的微生物(浮游植物、硝化生物和病毒等),在氮循环中的作用以及如何调节海洋的生物地球化学化学计量关系;
(3)氮与碳、磷、金属(铁、铜…)等元素的耦合研究;
(4)从群落、细胞等不同水平探究全球变化下不同水环境氮相关元素循环过程及其功能生物响应。

Research Interests
Xu focuses on the dynamic processes of nitrogen cycling in different aquatic environments, using techniques such as isotope tracing, flow cytometry, nano ion mass spectrometry, and bioinformatics. The main research topics include but are not limited to:
(1) Rates and regulatory factors of nitrogen cycling dynamics (especially in the photic zone and deep sea);
(2) The role of microorganisms (phytoplankton, nitrifying bacteria, viruses, etc.) in nitrogen cycling and how they regulate the biogeochemical stoichiometry of the ocean;
(3) Coupling studies of nitrogen with carbon, phosphorus, metals (iron, copper, etc.);
(4) Exploring the cycling of nitrogen-related elements and functional biological responses in different aquatic environments under global change at different levels such as communities and cells.
