MRU disseminated knowledge about the blue ocean in Sansha

本站讯（记者 杨婕）在“世界海洋日及全国海洋宣传日”（以下简称海洋日）来临之际，由海南大学南海海洋资源利用国家重点实验室王爱民教授、康振烨研究员、史晓东副研究员和夏文彤助理研究员组成的三沙科普队于6月5日下午来到三沙市永兴学校，为当地的学生和岛民举行海洋科普讲座。

On the occasion of "World Ocean Day and National Ocean Promotion Day" (hereinafter referred to as WOD), the Sansha Science Popularization Team composed of Professor Aimin Wang, Research Fellow Kang Zhenye, Associate Research Fellow Xiaodong Shi, and Assistant Research Fellow Wentong Xia from MRU came to Yongxing School in Sansha City on the afternoon of June 5th to hold an ocean science popularization lecture for local students and inhabitants.

王爱民作题为《人海和谐的海洋牧场》的讲座。在讲座中，王爱民运用影像、图片和数据生动地讲解了海洋牧场的概念与原理，系统地阐述了海南热带海洋生物资源的多样性，畅谈了三亚蜈支洲岛热带海洋牧场的建设与规划。期间，王爱民还分享了他在建设三亚蜈支洲岛热带海洋牧场期间发生的数个妙趣横生的故事。他说，这几年我们做的人工鱼礁非常好。我每一次去人工鱼礁上查看，这些大的石斑鱼都来看我，怎么都赶不走。所以说如果做成海洋牧场以后，我们这些生灵都是相通的。

Aimin Wang gave a lecture entitled “Ocean Ranching for Harmonious Coexistence”. During the lecture, Wang vividly elaborated on the concept and principles of ocean ranching using images, pictures, and data, the diversity of tropical marine biological resources in Hainan, and the construction and planning of the tropical ocean ranch on Wuzhizhou Island in Sanya. He also shared several interesting stories during the construction of the tropical ocean ranch on Wuzhizhou Island. He said, “We have done a very good job in building artificial reefs in recent years. Every time I check on the artificial reefs, these large groupers come to see me and I can't drive them away. So, within ocean ranch, all living creatures will be interconnected.”

康振烨围绕什么是“氢”、“氢”从哪里来、我们能用“氢”做什么三个方面作题为《健康生活 从“氢”出发》的讲座。在“氢”的应用上，他不仅用实物模型为观众生动形象地介绍了电解水制氢发电的过程，还带来了其团队开发的富氢水产品为观众普及了氢分子具有还原性的特征。

Zhenye Kang gave a lecture named “Embarking on a Healthy Life with Hydrogen” focusing on three aspects: what is hydrogen, where does hydrogen come from, and how can we use hydrogen. In terms of the application of hydrogen, he vividly demonstrated the process of electrolyzing water for hydrogen production using physical models, and introduced the team's developed hydrogen-rich water products, highlighting the reduction properties of hydrogen molecules.

史晓东作题为《小小海水电池 大大海洋能量》的讲座。他以传统电力供应和存储的缺陷为切入，提出海洋能源的开发与利用的场景和构想，重点介绍了电化学储能的最新方法。并结合多日在三沙市的调研体会，描绘了在永兴岛和赵述岛上实现海岛能源的愿景，培养并启发了观众对海洋能源的兴趣与认识。

A lecture by Xiaodong Shi was entitled “Tiny Seawater Batteries, Great Ocean Energy”. He started by addressing the shortcomings of traditional power supply and storage, and presented scenarios and concepts for the development and utilization of ocean energy, with a focus on the latest methods of electrochemical energy storage. Drawing from his research in Sansha City over several days, he outlined the vision of achieving island energy on Yongxing Island and Zhaoshu Island, cultivating and inspiring the audience's interest and understanding of ocean energy.

夏文彤作题为《海洋生物多样性及保护》的讲座。她首先解释了生物多样性的定义，然后通过举例说明分别介绍了海洋生物物种和海洋生态系统的多样性，并从营养、生态、军事、经济、文化等多方面价值上阐述保护海洋生物多样性的意义，最后结合当前海洋所面临的破坏与污染，提出解决措施。

Wentong Xia`s lecture was entitled “Marine Biodiversity and Conservation”. She explained the definition of biodiversity, then provided examples to illustrate the diversity of marine species and marine ecosystems. She elaborated on the significance of protecting marine biodiversity from various perspectives, such as nutrition, ecology, military, economy, and culture. Finally, she proposed solutions by addressing the destruction and pollution currently faced by the ocean.

在本次的“海洋科普入岛”系列活动中，三沙科普队已于6月3日前往赵述岛为岛民进行海洋科普。全场活动通过陈列展板、发放宣传资料、现场讲解等方式向三沙市市民普及海洋生态多样性和海洋能源等知识，有效提高市民的学习兴趣，引导市民走进科学，感受科学独特魅力，提高市民科学素养。为有效提升科普实效性，活动准备了海洋生物立体书、海洋生物标本、手作工艺品等礼物，吸引了一众三沙市民的关注，现场氛围浓厚。

In the series of activities -- “Marine Science Popularization in Shansha”, the Sansha science popularization team went to Zhao Shu Island on June 3rd to conduct marine science popularization for the inhabitants. The team popularized knowledge of marine ecological diversity and marine energy to the citizens of Sansha through display boards, promotional materials, and on-site explanations. It effectively increased the citizens' interest in learning and guided them to enter the world of science and improve their scientific literacy. In order to effectively improve the effectiveness of popular science, marine biological stereoscopic books, marine biological specimens, handicrafts, and other gifts were prepared, which attracted the attention of the inhabitants of Sansha.

据悉，今年6月8日是第十五个“世界海洋日”和第十六个“全国海洋宣传日”。为了进一步增强全民海洋意识，南海海洋资源利用国家重点实验室与三沙海洋和渔业局、自然资源部三沙海洋中心围绕今年海洋日“保护海洋生态系统 人与自然和谐共生”的主题，精心举办了本次的“海洋科普入岛”系列活动。讲座现场受到三沙市政府新闻中心的关注，并接受了三沙卫视的采访报道，取得了预期中的科普和宣传效果。对于进一步深入贯彻落实习近平生态文明思想、建设人与自然和谐共生的美丽海洋；落实海洋强国战略部署；提升全社会关心海洋、认识海洋、经略海洋的意识，不断强化海洋保护、海洋利用、海洋治理具有重要意义。

June 8^th, 2023 marked the 16th “National Ocean Awareness Day” and the 15th “World Oceans Day” with the theme of "Protecting Marine Ecosystems, Achieving Harmony between Man and Nature". In order to enhance public awareness of protecting ocean, MRU together with the Sansha Ocean and Fisheries Bureau and the Sansha Ocean Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, organized a series of activities, named “Marine Science Popularization in Shansha”, around the theme of this year's World Oceans Day. The lecture drew attention from the Sansha City Government's News Center and was also featured in Sansha Satellite TV's interview and coverage, achieving the expected results in science popularization and publicity. It is of great significance to further implement President Xi Jinping's ecological civilization concept, promote the construction of a beautiful ocean with harmonious coexistence between man and nature, implement the strategy of building a maritime power, and enhance the awareness of the whole society in caring for the ocean, understanding the ocean, and developing the ocean, continuously strengthening the marine protection, marine utilization, and marine governance.
