World Oceans DayMRU: A myriad of thoughts, interest and potentials of middle high school students were tapped after MRU World Oceans Day event

蔚蓝大海是生命的摇篮，治愈着生活在地球上的我们。6月5日上午，在海南大学科学技术发展院、南海海洋资源利用国家重点实验室、海洋学院、海南大学微生物协会的协同组织下，国重“海洋日”活动成功举办。本次活动以海洋与可持续发展为主题，分别面向小学组、初中组以及高中组展开。参加此次活动的初中组成员包括来自景山学校海甸分校初中部的50名学生以及2名带队老师。在活动中，初中组的同学和老师们一起走近海洋，走近蔚蓝。

The blue ocean is the cradle of life and nourishes us on earth. On the morning of June 5th, MRU, together with Hainan University Research Development Office, College of Oceanography of Hainan University and the Microbiology Association of Hainan University, hosted activities themed “Ocean and Sustainable Development”. The activities were open to the elementary, middle and high school students. The middle high school group included 50 students and 2 teachers from Haidian Branch Campus of Haikou Jingshan School. During the event, students and teachers got a close contact with the ocean.

在有序的组织下，初中组的师生陆续聆听了海洋相关的主题讲座，观看了海南大学第一届海洋文化科技创新创意大赛优秀作品展，实地观看了显微镜下的海洋物质，以及参观了海洋学院标本馆等。丰富的活动带给同学们对海洋世界的无限遐想与强烈震撼。充满着魅力的大海吸引着同学们不断了解，从细微之处了解了海洋有着别样的美。

Under the orderly organization, the teachers and students of the middle high school group attended ocean-related lectures, appreciated the exhibition of outstanding works of the First Hainan University Marine Culture and Science & Technology Innovation and Creativity Competition, observed the marine substances with the help of microscope, and visited the Specimen Room of College of Oceanography of Hainan University. Rich activities strongly shocked students and brought them infinite reverie to the ocean world. The charming sea attracted the students to learn more and more about it and enjoyed its beauty from the subtleties.

在亲身体验海洋科学、聆听海洋故事后，初中组的老师与同学对此次活动也给予了高度的评价。带队老师张博文和陈红萍表示此次活动丰富了学生的课外实践，有助于他们学到课堂以外的知识；学生赵承煜和石修齐也表示收获颇多，学到了海洋鱼类、珊瑚礁等相关知识。

After experiencing marine science and listening to marine stories, teachers and students of the middle high school group gave high praise to this event. The teachers Bowen Zhang and Hongping Chen said that the event enriched students’ extracurricular activities and helped them learn knowledge beyond the classroom; students Chengyu Zhao and Xiuqi Shi also said they gained a lot of knowledge about marine fish and coral reefs.

虽然“海洋日”活动已经告一段落，但蓝色火种还将继续播撒，蔚蓝大海也需我们守护。期待在未来，蓝色的火种汇聚成洋，海洋的摇篮更加蔚蓝。

Although the event had come to an end, the protection of blue ocean held on consistently and persistently. We expected that people from all walks of like would have the awareness of the protection of blue ocean in the future and made the ocean, the cradle of the life, become even bluer.
