MRU holds the second session of the second academic committee’s meeting

本站讯（记者杨婕覃艳菊）4月29日上午，南海海洋资源利用国家重点实验室（以下简称实验室）第二届学术委员会二次会议在海南大学国际学术交流中心以线上线下的形式召开。

In the morning of April 29, 2023, the State Key Laboratory of Marine Resources Utilization in South China Sea (MRU) held the second session of the second academic committee’s meeting in a combination of offline and online channels at the International Academic Exchange Center of Hainan University.

学术委员会的名誉顾问、中国科学院院士苏纪兰，学术委员会的主任、中国科学院院士戴民汉，学术委员会委员、中国工程院院士包振民，学术委员会副主任、香港科技大学教授甘剑平，学术委员会副主任、中国科学院海洋研究所研究员杨红生，中国科学院海洋研究所所长王凡，厦门大学教授柴扉，中国海洋大学教授赵美训，中国海洋大学三亚海洋研究院教授田纪伟，广西大学海洋学院院长余克服；海南大学校长、中国科学院院士骆清铭，海南大学科学技术发展院院长邹勇华，南海国重实验室主任高树基，南海国重实验室领导班子及部分师生代表出席会议。会议由邹勇华主持，包括开幕式、实验室主任工作报告及评议和学术报告三部分。

The meeting was attended by: Academician Jilan Su, Honorary Advisor of the Academic Committee; Academician Minhan Dai, Director of the Academic Committee; Academician Zhenmin Bao, member of the Academic Committee; Jianping Gan, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee and Professor of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; Hongsheng Yang, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee and Research Professor of Institute of Oceanology of Chinese Academy of Sciences; Fan Wang, Director of Institute of Oceanology of Chinese Academy of Sciences; Fei Chai, Professor of Xiamen University; Meixun Zhao, Professor of Ocean University of China; Jiwei Tian, Professor of Sanya Oceanographic Institution of Ocean University of China; Kefu Yu, Dean of School of Marine Sciences of Guangxi University; Academician Qingming Luo, President of Hainan University; Yonghua Zou, Director of Research Development Office of Hainan University; Shuh-Ji Kao, Director of MRU; representatives of teachers and students of MRU. The meeting was hosted by Yonghua Zou, and it included the opening ceremony, the work report and review of MRU director, and academic reports session.

骆清铭代表海南大学对与会专家学者表示热烈欢迎。他高度肯定了实验室过去七年在人才培养、科研创新和社会服务等方面所取得的成就并指出了未来的风险与挑战。他表示，目前海南大学在海洋科技领域的师资力量、硬件设备、团队实力等条件上已逐渐成熟。他希望实验室各位同仁在学术委员会的指导下，继续努力，不忘初心，敢于担当，勇做时代的弄潮儿。

On behalf of Hainan University, Academician Qingming Luo extended a warm welcome to the experts and scholars attending the meeting. He highly affirmed the achievements of MRU in talent training, research innovation and social services in the past seven years and pointed out the risks and challenges in the future. He said that Hainan University had gradually developed in terms of faculty and equipment in the field of marine science and technology, and he hoped that all research fellows in MRU would continue to work hard and do not forget their original aspiration.

戴民汉首先对会议的举办表示祝贺，并呼吁与会人员积极献策献言，助推实验室的未来发展与建设。

Academician Minhan Dai called on the participants to actively contribute to the future development and construction of MRU.

高树基主要围绕实验室2022年立项经费、论文发表、亮点工作、研究方向、科普研学、宣传报道等内容作主任工作报告。2022年实验室获批国家自然科学基金16项，其中重点项目1项，面上项目5项；成果在Nature Sustainability、Nature Communications等期刊发表；支撑海南大学化学、材料科学、工程学三个学科进入ESI全球前1%；指导学生团队斩获国际基因工程机器大赛金奖；组建海陆生态经济产业孵化平台，通过科研创新及跨界赋能来孵化和发展海洋生态经济产业，助力海南自贸港的建设。

Shuh-Ji Kao gave a report on the work of MRU, mainly focusing on the funding, publication of papers, highlights, research orientations, science popularization, and publicity in 2022. In 2022, MRU was awarded 16 National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, including 1 key project and 5 general projects. The research achievements were published in journals such as Nature Sustainability and Nature Communications. MRU also supported three disciplines of Hainan University, namely chemistry, material science and engineering, to enter the ESI top 1%. Members of MRU guided the students to win the gold medal of the International Genetically Engineered Machine. Besides, it set up a platform to develop the marine ecological-economic industry through scientific research innovation and cross-border empowerment, so as to help the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port.

会上，与会委员听取了实验室工作报告，肯定了实验室过去一年来在人才队伍建设、项目申报、文章发表、科研成果等方面取得的显著成绩，与建设初期相比已发生了巨大的变化，很多研究工作已经走在国际前沿。同时，委员们认为，实验室可以借助此次全国实验室重组的机会做好研究方向的调整，继续紧密结合国家需求，聚焦南海，寻找战略性研究方向，做好未来5年甚至10年发展规划。

At the meeting, the members listened to the work report and affirmed the achievements of MRU in the past year that many research achievements had been in the international frontier. At the same time, the members believed that MRU could make good use of this reorganization to adjust its research orientation, continue to cater to the national needs, focus on the South China Sea, find strategic research directions, and make development plans for the next 5 or even 10 years.

随后进行的研究报告环节，由吴文学研究员及苏剑钟副研究员主持，宋一清、郑旭峰、肖娟秀、刘涛、陈凯、罗笠、吴道雄、冯莉娟分别就相关研究内容作学术报告。

The research report session was chaired by Research Professor Wenwen Wu and Associate Research Professor Jianzhong Su, and Associate Research Professor Yiqing Song, Professor Xufeng Zheng, Research Professor Juanxiu Xiao, Research Professor Tao Liu, Associate Research Professor Kai Chen, Professor Li Luo, Associate Research Professor Daoxiong Wu and Doctor Lijuan Feng gave academic reports.
